Although we are all about having a good time and enjoying a fantastic weekend on the Banks of the Barcoo - there is Important Information you should note while attending the Isisford Fishing Competition, as well as Competition Rules and Terms & Conditions. Please take the time to note the information below so we can all enjoy an amazing weekend!

Important Information

NOMINATIONS
You can only nominate once in either the adult or junior section.

  • Adult & Junior nomination receives a free bucket (while stocks last).

  • You are classed as an adult if you are 13 years and older.

MAJOR DRAWS & PRIZES

FOR BOTH THE MAJOR DRAWS ADULT AND JUNIOR: YOU HAVE TO BE THERE TO COLLECT THE PRIZE. NO ONE CAN ACCEPT IT ON BEHALF OF ANOTHER.
(When a Name is drawn out, only a 5 minute wait and the draw will be redrawn)
Adult Major Draw: $2500.00 cash
Adult Longest Yellow-belly: 1st Prize, $1,200.00
Junior Major Draw: $300.00 cash only
Prizes only for 1st, 2nd & 3rd for Junior Yellow-belly, Black Bream and Catfish.

ADULT & JUNIOR RANDOM DRAWS
You don’t even have to catch a fish to win these prizes, just be nominated. Presentation of Prizes and Major/Random draws will begin at 12:00 noon Sunday. Don’t forget you can still purchase nomination tickets!

Friday: 1:30pm to 6:00pm, Saturday: 7:30am to 12:00pm, Sunday: 8:00am to 9:00am.
FIRE DANGER
Please be aware of the dangers of fires, the country is very dry and even though there is not a great deal of long grass there is still chance of fires getting out of hand and the need to have fires contained; also, please insure that all children are aware of your fires and hot coals. There have been a few accidents over the years with young children walking into fires or hot ash. Place a guard around the fire when unattended.

ALCOHOL
No BYO is permitted inside control point fence and the committee will not tolerate underage drinking. Oma campsite is a public road and police will be present to monitor.
YOU MUST BE WEARING AN 18+ BAND TO BE SERVED ALCOHOL

PORT-A-LOOS/SHOWERS
There are limited toilets and showers available - situated in the compound, please BYO if possible. There is a shower block as well as some port-a-loos situated along the river for your convenience. Please take a torch with you for lighting as there are no lights inside the port-a-loos.
There are showers also available in Town in the park area.
Anyone that has a chemical toilet with them, please do not flush it down any of the toilets, take it to the DUMP POINT in St Francis St, Isisford. Please look after our toilets as they are provided for your convenience.

FIRST AID
FIRST AID WILL BE SITUATED NEXT TO THE SES TENT from 9:00am til 6:00pm Saturday and 6:00am til 12:00 noon Sunday. THERE IS NO AMBULANCE ON SITE. There is a DEFRIBULATOR stationed up at the control point in the shed on the administration area on wall which is the area opposite the bar.
13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) is a 24/7 Health Advice. It is not a diagnostic service and should not replace medical consultation.
AMBULANCE: Please Ring 000 if there is an emergency. If in need of an ambulance, the COMM Centre will ask for a street address, if you tell them Oma Waterhole on the Isisford-Yaraka River Road, Isisford, may not be enough. Then give them 1709 Isisford Yaraka River Rd, Isisford. This is the closest rural address number to the Oma Waterhole on this road, therefore you will have to wait at the Oma Waterhole turn-off (either one) with Hazard Lights on and if dark please wave a flashlight to stop the ambulance.
CAMP SITE NUMBERS: Numbers are placed on each campsite road for location information to be used in emergency or family situations.
CATFISH STING TREATMENT: Immerse the affected area in hot water as hot as is tolerable usually relieves the pain. If pain persists, please seek medical help.

 

WE ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS SO PLEASE HELP US KEEP OMA WATERHOLE CLEAN AND TIDY. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR CAMPSITE IN A CLEAN AND TIDY STATE BEFORE YOU LEAVE.
RUBBISH BINS ARE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR
CONVENIENCE. PLACE LOOSE RUBBISH IN BAGS/BOXES SO THAT THE EXCESS CANNOT BLOW AWAY IN THE WIND.

Competition Rules

The rules and guidelines as per below:

  1. The Isisford Fishing Committee’s (C/- I.B.R.F.A Inc.) decision is final and committee has the right to withhold any prizes, pending investigation.

  2. First fish in at longest length is winner. Subsequent fish at same length takes minor placing. 

  3. NO PINK FISH (Pink fish are fish caught and held alive for a period of time which is classed to be not freshly caught)

  4. Fishing Competition Hours: 10:00am Saturday to 11:00am Sunday, from July 26th to 27th July 2025. Only fish caught within the time span are eligible for measuring and recording. The fishing competition starts at 10:00am so please do not bring up a fish as soon as it starts. 

  5. Fish are to be measured and recorded at the control point between the hours of 10:00am to 6:00pm Saturday and 6:00am to 11:00am on Sunday. Participants must state whether the fish to be measured is under either the junior or senior section or nominated number prior to measuring taking place.

  6. Only live and legal size fish caught in the licensed area can be measured.

  7. Once the fish has been handed in to be measured under no circumstances is the fish to be touched by the Competitors /viewers, if you do, you will be disqualified from the Competition. The only person who can touch the fish is the measuring committee.

  8. Only legal fish may be kept in line with bag limits: These sizes and limits will be displayed at points along the river, all other fishing rules & regulations, as set by Queensland Fisheries, must be observed.

  9. No boats/watercraft/floatation or fishing from boats allowed on Oma Waterhole or little Oma.

  10. Only legal bait or Lures allowed. Please refer to Qld Fisheries Recreational Rules & Regulations regarding bait. These are available at the control point.

  11. Only one (1) line per nomination to be in the water at any time. These lines shall be nominated by the angler and marked accordingly.

  12. Nomination fees are $30.00 per adult and $10.00 per child.

  13. Children are 12 years and under (Thirteen next birthday.)

  14. No fish at this competition may be sold, this is a state ruling.

  15. Registration will be accepted at the Central Control Point Friday 25th July 2025, 1:30pm to 6:00pm and then from 8:00am to 12:00 noon, Saturday 26th July and from Sunday 28th July, 8:00am to 9:00am.

  16. Participants are requested to ensure that the state of their chosen site shall remain clean and in good condition. Bins and regular garbage disposal will operate throughout the weekend.

  17. Sites shall not be marked; we anticipate that hospitality and courtesy will suffice.

  18. Competitors must nominate before fishing.

  19. The Isisford Barcoo Recreational Fishing Assoc. Inc. accepts no liability for injury, loss, damage of any person or property in the course of excursion, whether such injury or loss is due, or alleged to be due to any neglect or default of the Isisford Barcoo Recreational Fishing Assoc. Inc. or of any official or agent thereof, and all competitors fully understand that in so participating, they do so entirely at their own risk and agree to abide by all rules and regulation.

  20. The licensed fishing area is the Northern side of the Barcoo River from the OMA CROSSING upstream to the second dividing fence across the river, including tributaries.

  21. BYO alcohol is not permitted inside the licensed control point area designated by the taped fence. Offenders will be required to vacate the control point area immediately. It is an offence for adults to supply alcohol to minors. (Police will be carrying out regular patrols to enforce these rules and will be targeting underage drinking). Please ensure that you do not drink and drive.

  22. All patrons must adhere to the current COVID 19 rules and regulations. Please stay at home and do not enter the fishing competition if you are unwell.

Terms & Conditions

You as a COMPETITOR when registering agrees that you understand that you will be camping along the banks of the waterhole which is of rough landscape where there will be untouched surrounds, steep banks, fallen timber, washouts and loose debris, dangerous reptiles which the committee
is limited to what they can touch, fix, eliminate or eradicate due to causing any negative impacts on our environment and waterways, therefore the committee maintains access roads into each campsite, display signs for your safety to abide by, issue fire safety controls by flyers, information on first aid and
emergency services, fish species info/bag limits, encourage parents to provide life jackets for their children, you also acknowledge that only the committee is to sell alcohol within licensed area and BYO is not allowed in the controlled area and drinking of alcohol at camps falls under the Australian Liquor licensing Act and Police will present to monitor drink driving, underage drinking and reckless and unsafe driving/
riding of unregistered motorbikes.


As part of the committee’s level of control, please be mindful of noise especially when generators and music are involved as competitors are here to enjoy their weekend. The committee relies on you to have common sense and respect for the event as we are all volunteers destined for the same
outcome as why you come for a family fun weekend. If you cannot abide by or respect the abovementioned rules and guidelines and found default of the same, you understand
that you will be disqualified from the competition and asked to leave the event.


No BOATS, WATERCRAFT of any kind on the River/Little Oma at time of the competition.

FISHING BOUNDARY
No Fishing outside the green boundary line. Fishing and Camping inside the line - Little Oma & BIG Oma.

WATER SAFTEY 

CHILDREN MUST BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES AND THE COMMITTEE ENCOURAGES WEARING OF LIFE JACKETS FOR THEIR SAFETY ESPECIALLY AROUND WATER.
The Isisford Barcoo Recreational Fishing Assoc. Inc. does not assume responsibility for those inherent risks which may cause unfortunate
accidents or incidents during our fishing competition. The Isisford Barcoo Recreational Fishing Assoc. Inc. will not be held responsible for injury, death, damage, loss, or inconvenience arising during our Fishing Competition which may be beyond our control. Please make sure your child/children if near the water wear the appropriate life jacket or PFD (Life jackets should
fit snugly and comfortably).
